Undeniably, the role of the CIO and his/her team is under constant evolution. Enabling innovation, fostering close client relationships and expanding the client base will always come with the job. But today, the focus has tilted towards effectively managing change, improving the analytics that drive the business, reducing waste, and improving processes across the entire organization. And as IT looks for ways to become leaner, a great place to start is made evident: Application Maintenance & Support (AMS), where the largest amount of budget is spent.
As business runs on top of legacy applications, maintaining and supporting them is unavoidable. Yet, we argue, the task can be addressed through a more effective AMS — one that balances the amount of people and talent with company needs, locates it wherever it makes the most sense for the business, and thrives through metrics-driven and ever-evolving maintenance and support processes.
In this edition, we have compiled several resources that provide ideas on how to implement leaner AMS practices. Hope you enjoy it. For more information, don’t forget to check out the Perspectives section at softtek.com.
