While online retail has seen exponential growth, brick-and-mortar stores still play a vital role in the retail landscape. To stay competitive and meet customer expectations, retailers are adopting new technologies to enhance the in-store experience. Recognizing this, our client approached us with a challenge to implement a scan-and-go solution to revolutionize check-out and even self-check-out lines as we know them.
Implement a scan-and-go solution for a quick and convenient shopping experience.
Give shoppers greater autonomy while saving time at checkout and self-checkout.
Allow more sales volume to flow through the store.
Provide a touchless shopping experience to customers who prefer it.
Thanks to a prior successful collaboration on an accounting and finance automation project, the client was already familiar with Softtek’s capabilities and selected us to implement our Scan & Go solution at over 60 retail locations. Softtek developed a standalone app that uses the same log-in credentials as the client’s main application with a simple and intuitive UX for shoppers. The solution also included purchase history, real-time inventory tracking, out-of-stock notices, a deals and promotions module, and a no-code interface for easily adding product barcodes to the Scan & Go directory. The app used robust authentication methods and real-time monitoring of active clients, which resulted in no increase in theft or inventory discrepancies.
Consulting, analysis, and tool selection for development and integration with inventory systems.
Hybrid development using the .NET developer platform Xamarin.
Key methodologies used: Agile application development, Scrum.
Key features: purchase history, real-time inventory tracking, deals and promotions module, real-time active client monitoring, and no-code Scan & Go directory modifications.
With Softtek’s Scan & Go mobile self-checkout solution, shoppers can simply scan, pay in the app, and show a receipt on the way out. This contributed to greater operational efficiency, lower operating costs, improved profitability, and a differentiated shopper experience. Key impacts include:
27% increase in the average ticket value of recurring customers.
13% increase in impulse display conversion.
Able to handle up to a 15% increase in daily per-store sales volume during surges in customer traffic.
Combined average rating of 4.6/5 stars on Android and iOS.
